Summer is right around the corner...... we hope! Are you and your body ready to take the heat??! Have no fear, here are a few tips to get you in tip- top shape for bathing suit season!
1- It is not about doing endless amounts of crunches to get a six pack. Ever hear the saying, "abs are made in the kitchen?" Well, it's true! You have to EAT clean to trim the fat. I train abs once a week but I watch what I eat 24 hours a day.
2- Do exercises that engage your core but aren't JUST ab exercises. For example: squats. Squats are a great exercise that get your core engaged but you are also working other muscles as well.
3- Keep it tight! I don't like to tell people to "suck it in" because that will create tension within your body. Rather, ENGAGE your core. Don't let everything spill out... pull in and up! This will keep your abs working even when you aren't doing anything. How simple?!
4- Weight train. Too many times do I see ladies on the cardio machines for ENDLESS hours going NOWHERE. What are you doing!?? Too much cardio can do the body harm and you end up burning fat and MUSCLE! There is a term called, "skinny fat." You might look "skinny" but your body fat is through the roof... we don't want this. Pick up the weights, do some heavy and good formed lifting and decrease that cardio. When you build more muscle you burn MORE fat. Less work, better results? Who WOULDN'T want that?!
